千呼萬喚使出來啦！

今年度最新的UC加州大學申請系統、以及Common Application系統，兩大系統皆於8月1日開放囉！

也就是說，欲申請2016秋季班入學的學生們可以開始上網填寫申請表囉！

這兩大系統基本上是申請美國最複雜也最麻煩的系統，因此只要會填這兩大系統，基本上應付其他學校系統沒什麼問題。

申請系統的申請表內容，當然也要非常認真填寫，填寫越仔細、國外大學也越看得出你的認真！也切記填寫的所有內容必須真實，不能捏造！

而大家最care的就是今年的Essay題目為何？

看了一下今年的題目，UC題目還是跟去年一樣不變，而Common App一樣是5題選1題，題目大同小異。

UC申請表開放日期：8月1日。

UC申請表送寄日期：11月1日～30日。

2015-16 UC Essay: 共兩題，兩題總字數不超過1000字，每題字數不低於250字！

Personal Statement 1 (Essay 1) 第一題：

Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Personal Statement 2 (Essay 2) 第二題：

Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud, and how does it relate to the person you are?

第一題一樣是描述學生的成長背景，需要在短短的幾百字中勾勒出自己的人格特質和未來展望方向。

雖然每年都是同樣一題，但這題要寫好其實並沒有這麼容易，學生很容易流於粗糙和流水帳，抑或是寫得太detail導致篇幅不夠...

需要多修幾次，才有辦法把這篇寫好哦！

第二題則是focus在自己最值得拿出來說嘴的故事和經驗上，請大家多點自信，好好將自己最好的一面展現出來！

Common App送件日期：依學校而定，請留意各校deadline，並注意ED/EA的deadline。

2015 Common App‘Personal Essay’ 今年Essay一樣是5題選1題撰寫(250~600字)：

1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. 

2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience? 

3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?

4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution. 

5. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.

第一題跟往年一樣，希望學生分享一個個人特質的故事，請大家好好腦力激盪一下，人生故事中哪個最吸引人囉！

第二題跟往年一樣，希望聽聽學生曾經失敗的經驗，並瞭解學生從失敗中站起來的經驗故事。

第三題往年一樣有，想瞭解學生對於任何人事物的處事態度和想法。

第四題是新的題目，想知道學生是否有解決問題的能力。

第五題則是想瞭解學生人格特質的養成和轉變。

綜合以上，是否有發現，Common App的Essay幾乎著重在「故事性」，希望學生tell a story，但不是就只是講個「故事」這麼簡單，而是故事的背後，題目想要問出來的main point，才是Essay的重點！Try it！

Essay儼然已成為美國各校決定是否錄取學生的重要關鍵，學生的GPA、TOEFL、IELTS、SAT、ACT...等等成績，這些都是basic elements，但因為Essay寫得好而被錄取的學生，也大有人在。

分享過這麼多文章，Admission office的審核官，最終就是強調一點，寫Essay， "Be yourself!!"
